Prices are low on Musical Instruments that need Repair

You can go on websites like eBay or craigslist and find all kinds of good deals on musical instruments. Especially if they need repair.
A lot times on music gear like guitars and such the problem can be simple. Like a wire has come unhooked from the pickup to the output jack. If it’s a passive pickup (no battery used) you could take a simple ohm meter and see if you have continuity from the hot and ground part of a guitar jack that is plugged into the instrument.
Or then again you may touch the wires going to the pickup with your ohm meter and get an open reading. There might be a chance the pickup is bad. Armed with your information you could talk the owner way down on the asking price.
Just learn how to use an ohm meter, very simple but a must for musicians.
Let’s say you want to find a bass guitar for sale but don’t want to spend a lot of money. Look for ones that need repair and if you know a trick or two with a volt ohm meter you might just find a very good deal!
