Interest In Classic Rock On The Rise

At times it seems like the music from 20 or so years ago is almost as popular as it was then. During 2007 year we saw a number of highly successful reunion tours by classic rock artists like The Police, Van Halen, Genesis and Roger Waters of Pink Floyd fame.
The Police were particularly successful on their tour and ranked highest among the concert tour earners for the whole year. There certainly is no shortage of fans who are willing to pay up and line up to see their old favorites onstage once again.
As a classic rock fan myself, it’s kind of nice to see this trend developing. There is not shortage of classic rock stations on the radio dial and I sometimes see local teenagers walking the streets wearing Led Zeppelin or Rush T-shirts.
Another thing that is pretty popular these days is classic rock ringtones for cell phones. I admit that I once knew very little about ringtones and was mystified about their popularity, but since I am a classic rock fan myself, I can understand why someone might want to have Aerosmith or Journey play when their phone rings.
Personally, I’d like to see this interest in classic rock music continue, and perhaps even grow more. What I have heard of contemporary rock music makes it easy for me to understand why a lot of young people are choosing classic rock these days.
