On 24th April 2009 Berlin will celebrate five years of EU enlargement – 5 years of new horizons. On this occasion the whole city will be turned into one massive event where the Department of Foreign Affairs will be in collusion with the Berlin club scene. Does that sounds suspicious to you? Well, actually it is not…
Under the patronage of Foreign Minister Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, this night of clubbing will be taking place for the third time.
The first time the event took place was 2 years ago and that was on the 50th birthday of the European Union and last year was a roaring success as well.
The guests of the Club Night are able to perceive the offer in each participating club by buying only one ticket.
Approximately 30 different Berlin clubs have been announced and will house bands, DJs and live acts from all over the European Union. In 2009 more or less 10.000 visitors are expected.
Under the “Welcome to the Club” motto, the image of the EU, in a manner of speaking, is assigned to the dance floor and invites people to shake their hips to the rhythm of many sounds.
A special appeal is the fact that not only music from London and Paris is heard on Berlin turntables but you can also enjoy music from countries like Lithuania and Estonia.
Given the cost for entry to a club for the night, it should be considered value for money. For only 12 euros you can experience 100 DJs from 27 countries on different places.
Musical emphasis of this night is on the 12 countries which had entered in the last five years, due to the 50th anniversary of the biggest enlargement in the history of the EU.
The opening ceremony informs us of which countries will be involved and they are also presented during the club night.
Each country uses a different definition and interpretation of music so that this night offers a multiplicity of styles.
Especially those countries that you have never really felt connected to. They have a chance to give you an understanding of their culture and their attitude towards life by presenting their music.
Those of you who will still be in Berlin at the end of April should not hesitate to buy tickets for the 50th birthday of the enlarged EU. You will enjoy a mixture of cultures and if you find a nice Unterkunft Berlin or stay with your friends in a Ferienwohnung in Berlin, it will be definitely worth your while to add the club night to your itinerary in Berlin.
For more information on all clubs that complete line-up you can visit the homepage www.eu-clubnacht.de. Enjoy your visit to Berlin and on the European Club Night.

HBO is trying not to make a slightly awkward situation worse by not apologizing for airing a sacred Mormon religious ceremony depicted on the show.
The scene depicts a revered ceremony involving the entrance into the Mormon church. Actress Jeanne Tripplehorn is the lucky actress to go through with it. There’s secret handshakes and veils and people walking around in all white. It’s much like a dream sequence from a Polanski movie. To describe it would be rather difficult, and HBO pulled it from online so I guess you’ll need to use your imagination.
Its mostly just a quick handshake and a veil and a bit of crying at the end. Sounds not unlike my Prom. Well, The Church Of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints is livid. As of today the higher ups of the Church have not released a full statement, but according to a number of reports a lot of elder Mormons are mad that the scene was even shown at all, saying that it was “completely unnecessary” and “downright rude”. Interestingly enough, the whole scene was helped to be created by an ex Mormon who taught others how to do such events Brent D. Payne, who describes the finished scene as “quite accurate”. You’d think for the guy who told the writers how to make it it would be “very accurate”. So it goes.

California Department of Corrections released the photo of famed mass murderer Charles Manson Wednesday for a routine prisoner update. The 74 year-old killer still has the Swastika on his forehead, however looks quite aged with a wrinkled face and receding gray hair.
It’s amazing to me how this guy is still alive, he must have some protection on the inside because California prisons are no joke (but then again what prisons aren’t). He must be under solitary confinement a lot because I don’t think he’d survive in the general population. Manson, who was responsible for the killings of 7 people admitted he was influenced by the Beatles hit song “Helter Skelter.”

Tracy Morgan’s Saturday Night Live Appearance this past Saturday was one of the best in recent memory.
Tracy got his start on the show and was famously underused. After leaving, he’s become one of the most in demand comedians around. His character on the hit show 30 Rock, aptly titled Tracy Jordan (wakka wakka), is basically an extension of himself. He’s fucking brilliant. Truly onto some next level stuff.
The show started off in fine form with a killer opening monologue that included not one but THREE fights, an incredibly badass footslide-kick, and Tracy punching out Tina Fey (who used to be the head writer during Tracy’s time there). His story about the fish tank was inspired by true and recent events for Tracy: a faulty light bulb above his shark(!) tank blew and caused huge damage to his 16th story condo on New York’s Upper West Side.
There are no results for tracy morgan.
Next up was my own personal character Brian Fellows. The character is seemingly retarded zoologist who has wild fantasies about the animals he’s interviewing. It’s hard to explain. The guy wears a pith helmet and lip gloss. It’s that kind of comedy. The cop station sketch was overlong, but he came back swinging with the Dateline sketch that has Saturday Night Live’s current secret weapon Bill Hader. Now, Bill is one to watch. He’s fucking HILARIOUS and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was SNL’s next breakout star. Tracy and Bill had amazing chemistry together.

The Forbes Billionaires list is here. Bill Gates has reclaimed his position at the top dethroning Warren Buffet who had edged him from his perch in 2008. Recession however has hit the mega rich in a big way and the combined worth of the top 20 billionaires in 2009 is around $416 billion. The figure is way low than the combined wealth of the top super rich in 2008. The fall in wealth is a natural fallout of the recession. Bill Gates lost $18 billion, Warren Buffet lost $25 billion, Mark Zuckerberg lost $600 million and got knocked off the billionaires list. He’s now just a multi-millionaire.
Give it a thought, imagine losing $18 billion and still coming out the richest man on the planet, phew!! The biggest loser though was India’s Anil Ambani who lost a staggering $32 billion as the Indian stock market went into freefall and the rupee fell 18% against the dollar.
So bad has the recession been that of the 1,125 billionaires in 2008 only 793 remain. The combined worth has seen a dip of $2 trillion and a mere 44 billionaires added to their wealth. I think you need a lot of heart, a special liver, a sturdy gall bladder and nerves of steel to lose more money that in a year that most men will not make in a lifetime and still carry on. Apparently money ceases to be a key motivation when you cross a certain threshold.

The Russians are coming… well, looks like they had never gone away. Incidents of Russian fighter planes carrying out recces at the edges of NATO airspace have been routine. Their favorite aircraft for this purpose is their cold war icon - the Tu-95. The NATO alliance affectionately calls it the “Bear”.
The Russians have been pressing for their share of the mineral wealth in the Arctic. And pointedly chose to make their presence felt immediately after Obama’s visit to Ottawa on February 16th. As has been happening regularly but does not get reported, two Canadian CF-18 fighter jets intercepted the Russian aircraft before it could enter Canadian airspace and asked it in very clear terms to to turn around, turn tail, and head back to its own air space.
Canadian defense minister Peter MacKay stopped short of openly accusing the Russians of mischief mongering but said it was a “strong coincidence” that the Russians chose to carry out the sortie so soon after Obama’s visit.

In the 2nd posthumous Oscar ever given, Heath Ledger won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his now iconic role as The Joker in Christopher Nolan’s Batman epic “The Dark Knight”. His now legendary performance remade the role last made famous by Jack Nicholson and became one of the strongest and most memorable performances in recent history.
There are no results for oscars.
Heath tragically died last year after accidentally mixing prescription pills. He rose to stardom in the mid 90’s in teen films, before gaining a huge critical win with Brokeback Mountain.
His father, sister, and mother accepted the award for him. His father, Kim Ledger, said, “I have to say this is ever so humbling, just being amongst such wonderful people in such a wonderful industry. We’d like to thank the academy for recognizing our son’s amazing work, Warner Bros., and Christopher Nolan in particular for allowing Heath the creative license to develop and explore this crazy Joker character.”

For those of you unfamilar with Wondercon, consider it the San Francisco version of ComicCon, but on a smaller scale. Here you’ll find many of the same things you’ll get in San Diego: media panels; hard-to-find comics and collectibles for sale; writers, artists, and tv and movie actors signing things; and people dressed up in costumes. Oh, so many costumes. Most of these get-ups you’ll recognize, some you’ll understand as originating from some obscure anime, and others will just completely flummox you with their bizarre premise and/or execution. This gallery contains examples of all three types.
Now, it might have been because it was my first time to Wondercon, or that I wasn’t able to get to any of the panels, or that I had my son with me, but I felt that Wondercon compared unfavorably to ComicCon in most respects. I appreciate that it exists, and perhaps there’s something to being able to provide Watchmen fanservice so close to the opening of the actual movie (March 6th, y’all), but in general the whole thing felt sort of like what it is: ComicCon’s little brother. Not quite as much of everything, and a strange traffic flow to it all. I’ll try again next year, maybe go on my own, and see if the addition of panel watching changes my experience. For $15, however, I was disappointed.

Ask any modern singer or songwriter for a list of their influences, and you’re more than likely to see pop mastermind Burt Bacharach at the top of their list. Know best for his many hits that span the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s, Burt Bacharach’s songbook is one of the best known in modern times.
Burt Bacharach was born on May 12, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri. From an early age, he showed interest in music. He studied the subject extensively at the Mannes School of Music, McGill University and the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California.
Bacharach’s career began to blossom in 1957 when he joined forces with lyrical mastermind Hal David. A year later, their first big hit was recorded by Marty Robbins, entitled “The Story of My Life.” It became a number one hit on U.S. country and UK charts. The success was followed up in early 1958 with Perry Como’s hit, “Magic Moments.” Como’s song reached number four hit on American charts and number one in the UK.
Burt Bacharach and Hal David then found success writing songs for artists like Johnny Mathis, Dionne Warwick, The Drifters and Chuck Jackson in the early 1960s. Their popularity as a songwriting team snowballed as they continued to compose hit songs for many of the brightest talents of the time.

Are you getting ready to buy your first guitar? Since this is going to be your first, you will want to choose a guitar that’s right for you. When you start to look you will realize that there are thousands out there, and in every possible price range. But how the heck do you choose your first one?
Don’t fall into the trap of buying the guitar based on looks alone. How a guitar is the least important thing when it comes to picking a guitar. More important things to think about are price, quality, and action. If you find one that fits all those factors, and you like the look, then you are well on your way!
First you need to consider the action you want on your guitar. What is action? A guitar’s action is how far the strings are off of the fret board. The kind of action you pick will have a lot of play the ease of playing the guitar. Try not to get a guitar with high action because it will make it difficult and may end up with you quitting.
So don’t forget, high action means harder to play. So pick a guitar with low action. Make it easy on yourself and give yourself the chance to succeed.

When it comes to making beats, there are a few things to keep in mind. The most important thing to remember is that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get started. Long gone are the days when making your own beats required $1000 dollars or more. Now it is quite possible to buy a beat maker so you can make your own rap and hip-hop beats for less than $50 bucks. The best part is that you simply download the software beat maker to your computer - and you can literally start making beats in just minutes after the purchase.
The software beat maker I am referring to will probably have a few things going for it. For one, it will include a 16-track sequencer. This is very important because 8-track beat makers will leave you wanting more - there is just not enough opportunity for that perfect beat with only 8-tracks to work with. The other thing to remember is that if you make your own beats, you will want to control the beats per minute, or BPM. This is also standard on most music beat maker software interfaces being sold today.
